Happy Lipstick Day! We finally have an excuse to flaunt our love for those little tubes of glory. Like any other beauty product, lipsticks don’t come cheap and that is probably the biggest reason we can’t have as many shades as we desire. But there are very much more to this makeup staple than meets the eye. In conjunction with Lipstick Day, we’ve compiled a list of lippie hacks for you to master the various uses of the lipstick and achieve pout perfection.
1. Red lipstick to colour correct eye bags
Dab a little red lipstick under your eyes to counter the bluish tints of eye bags before applying concealer and setting powder.
2. Apply lip liner for longer-lasting colour
Use lip liner all over your lips before applying lipstick in a similar shade to make it last longer. Remember to apply lip balm, as this can be quite drying.
3. Lipstick as blusher and eye shadow
Substitute cream blusher and eye shadow with lipstick when you’re on the go. That means, less baggage for more lipstick space.
4. Blot to set long-lasting lip colour
Create a base for the lipstick to adhere to by applying the first layer of rouge, then blotting and dusting with translucent powder over a piece of tissue paper, and finish with another layer of lipstick.
5. Instant mattifying with a blusher
Lightly powder your lips with a blusher of a similar shade for a budget matte lip look.
6. Highlight for a fuller pout
Dab on a shimmer of highlighter on the centre of your lips to create an illusion of fuller lips.
7. Brown lipstick to contour
Save on contour palettes by using a brown lipstick to contour.
8. Conceal lips to get legit nude colour
Mask the natural tint of your lips with a thin layer of concealer before applying a nude lippie to cancel out your natural lip colour.
9. Add depth to your puckers
Line lips with a brown pencil and blend downwards to emphasise your pout.
10. Dark lipsticks make great eyeliners
Load on a deep burgundy or even a purple lipstick on an angled brush and draw on your killer winged eyeliner.
