Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Might Not Proceed With Divorce

Here's what changed.

CLEO Brangelina divorce

Last August, the world was left reeling from shock (and maybe even heartache) when Angelina Jolie announced that she would be divorcing Brad Pitt. But according to recent US Weekly reports, the Hollywood couple might not head for splitsville after all.

“The divorce is off,” said a source to the magazine. “They haven’t done anything to move it forward in several months and no one thinks they are ever going to.”

There were lots of speculation as to why Angelina wanted the divorce, including a supposed affair between Brad and Marion Cotillard and an altercation between Brad and the couple’s eldest son, Maddox, but Brad’s sobriety issues were said to also be a huge problem.

Brad had admitted to GQ in May that he was “boozing” so much that he “could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka,” and it seems that since the divorce announcement he’s been working on staying sober. He explained in the same interview that he’s just been sipping on cranberry juice and carbonated water.

“He got sober to try and win her back,” said the source to US Weekly. “He knew he had a problem that he had to take care of. And that’s all she ever wanted.”

“Everyone thinks they are going to get back together. It wouldn’t be surprising if they announced that they’re calling it off and trying to work things out.”

Angelina had reportedly told friends that she’d take Brad back if “if he showed he was committed to raising a family”.

The couple had been together for 12 years before the split. Aside from Maddox, they have five other kids together: Pax, 13; Shiloh, 11; Zahara, 12; and twins Vivienne and Knox, nine. Angelina has been seeking sole custody.
