He is 19 years younger than his sister, Fan Bing Bing
The age gap led to speculations that Cheng Cheng might be Bing Bing’s illegitimate son. The actress dispelled the rumours, stating in an interview that she was the one who convinced her mother to keep Cheng Cheng because it was not easy for the latter to have a child at an older age; and they had to pay a fine due to China’s one-child policy.
If that doesn’t dispel the rumours, in an episode of Idol Producer, Cheng Cheng performed a cover of South Korean boy band Block B’s “Very Good”, and rewrote its lyrics to “I was born in Qingdao on 16 June, 2000, just like any other child, but my birth was ridiculed/My dream started to grow amidst doubts and I have come a long way despite facing discrimination/I will not heed slanderous comments directed towards me.” Many believed it was an indirect response to rumours of his illegitimacy.

He appeared as a guest on the popular variety show, Keep Running
There were rumors that Cheng Cheng was going to appear on the show Keep Running, in which his future brother-in-law Li Chen is a regular cast.
