Think models have it easy? Well, the life certainly looks glamourous (gorgeous clothes, great makeup and great parties), but there’s also a lot of work that goes into the whole experience. Earlier this summer, The New Paper’s New Face contestants got a chance to find out for themselves just what a real-life modelling experience would entail.
“It was quite fascinating to see how much work is put into a photo, from the set to the make up, to styling and props,” says Tan Zhi Shien, 18. “It does add pressure to perform well but the overall experience was great with the encouragement from everyone.” Others, like Juhi Nar Singh, 19, found the shoot really taught her how to model with a product she had to advertise beyond clothes.
All this will come in handy as these New Face hopefuls strut their stuff at the finals at Paragon Shopping Centre, Friday, 22 September. They’ll be competing to win the coveted title, $10,000 cash, $2,000 worth of hair services from Kelture Salon, and a special feature in an upcoming issue of CLEO! You can vote for your favourite to win the New Paper Miss Popularity award at tnp.sg/tnpnewface from 16 September to 21 September.
In the meantime, check out these behind-the-scenes photos to see what really goes down on on a photoshoot, and maybe pick up a tip or two from these aspiring models.
