When news of Pippa Middleton’s wedding broke, many were keen to find out which designer picked to tailor her wedding gown. After all, the sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton had stunned the world when she wore an Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress for Kate’s wedding.
Six years ago we were formally introduced to Pippa! Of course we knew of her before the royal wedding, but she really caught everyone's eye. Can you believe it's been six years already?! It's crazy how fast the time has gone! Now Pippa is set to marry next month! 💕 Happy Anniversary to the Duke & Duchess 🥂 #pippamiddleton #royalwedding
For her own wedding, Pippa seemed to have married the styles of her bridesmaid dress and Kate’s wedding dress – the 33-year-old’s wedding dress was a lace gown with cap sleeves. The designer? England-born designer Giles Deacon.
Rumours of him being the designer was first sparked after he was seen visiting her house with a garment bag last year. At that time, he declined to comment further.
While Giles hasn’t revealed the cost of the dress, reports estimated the dress to be worth £40,000 ($71,444).
According to various reports, he released a statement, saying, “It’s a privilege to show the craftsmanship that my team produces in London and a real testament to Pippa’s support of British fashion.”
He also described his creation: “The bespoke silk cotton lace was hand appliqued to create an illusion of the dress having no seams. The lace bodice is embroidered with pearl detailing over an organza and tulle underskirt, which has layer upon layer to enable a floor-sweeping movement.”
Many noticed that Pippa’s dress bore resemblance to Kate’s, down to the bouquet of white posy. At the wedding, Kate was seen arranging Pippa’s trail; similarly, Pippa had carried Kate’s trail during the royal wedding. The only difference? Kate was also playing nanny to the entourage of page boys and flower girls.
