You might recognise Park Seo Jun in Midnight Runners or Fight My Way, but his break came a year earlier – through hit drama She Was Pretty and Kill Me, Heal Me.
From playing supporting roles to landing leading roles, Park Seo Jun has made a swift ascend up the Korean entertainment ladder, being one of the most promising actors to keep an eye out for.
In town for his fan meeting that will happen at Resorts World Sentosa tomorrow, the 28-year-old met up with the local press to talk about bromance and kissing scenes. Scroll through the gallery to read all the highlights from the press conference.
On bromance with co-stars Lee Kwang Soo and Kang Ha Neul
I’m really thankful that I got to work with great people like Kwang Soo and Ha Neul. They’re really good people. I still keep in contact with them. Because of the fact that I had a good time doing the projects with them, I feel that the results were great. If nothing happens, I wish to remain friends forever with them.
On how he prepares for kissing scenes
I don’t have any special preparations for these scenes. I try to put myself in my character’s shoes and when I do that well, good scenes are made. I’m a very shy person in real life, but when I’m filming, I try to put those thoughts aside and focus on my project.
On the success of Midnight Runners
I’m very thankful. Whatever project it is, I think there’s no movie where the actors don’t put in effort, and all movies represent the actors’ efforts. So I feel honoured that our audience showed [warm response] to our movie.
On how he maintains his physique
I feel that it is important to work out regularly, and to watch what you eat.
On his dual personality of being reserved at home, but behaving differently when with friends
Instead of trying to overcome it, I try to accept it as who I am. At first, I viewed it as my weakness, but over time, I realised it wasn’t. When I think twice before I speak, it adds weight to my words.
On when he’s the most “leader-like”
I feel that my leadership qualities come through when I meet those who are younger than me, and my juniors. Plus, as a main actor, I feel that there is a lot of responsibility on me. So when I have to lead, I have to do it.
On his childhood dream of being a baseball player
It’s really nothing special, I enjoy watching baseball so I thought I would be a baseball player. Recently, my schedule isn’t the way it used to be, so I haven’t been able to play baseball these days.
On Ha Neul’s visit to Singapore
I didn’t really ask him what to try or what places to go. I was just catching up with Ha Neul, and he told me that he had a lot of interviews. We told each other that we would catch up when he got back to Korea, but he ended up in the army.
On his charm
I’m not sure… What do you all think is my charm? (Media: Your smile!) My smile? *Flashes a shy smile*
Bonus: Seo Joon tried pandan cake and coconut water (straight out of the fruit!). The actor revealed that he actually likes drinking coconut water and often drinks it from the carton when he’s in South Korea.
