CLEO’s Most Eligible Bachelor 2017 Is The Ultimate Boy-Next-Door

It’s hard not to love him.

Last Friday, we crowned 25-year-old Amos Ngeow as CLEO Most Eligible Bachelor 2017. We caught up with this quintessential Singaporean boy-next-door about his win, his dreams, and everything else in-between.

Congratulations! How do you feel about your win?

I really didn’t expect myself to win. Honestly, I really didn’t treat this as a competition, I was just there to have fun and make friends with everyone! Still, I am very honoured.

How did your friends and family react to your title as CLEO Most Eligible Bachelor 2017?

My friends are very happy for me because they knew I wanted to be in the media industry, and this is definitely a boon. I told my mum about this and showed her a video of the striptease performance, which I am a part of, but after a minute, she lost interest because it was too long! (Laughs)

What, in your opinion, is your best quality that makes you an eligible bachelor?

My outgoing personality? Haha, I don’t know! Oh, maybe my perseverance – I will do whatever it takes to achieve my goals. Do you know that I used to be overweight? I was rather plump and unfit, and I got laughed at for having man boobs. It really brought my self-esteem down. When I entered polytechnic, I just really wanted to join a sport, so I joined the canoeing team.

So that’s when you got fit? Do you find that people treat you differently after you’ve shaped up?

Yes and no. Well the way I see it, my intention is just to keep myself healthy and instill some sort of discipline – the body is just a nice side effect.

What’s next for you?

I still have my business, Prestige Wear, to run. I’m hoping that winning CLEO Most Eligible Bachelor will open up more hosting opportunities for me and to further my career in show business. And, if the opportunity arises, acting!

Looking back, what were some of your favourite or most memorable moments during this competition?

Being part of the striptease performance, definitely! Professionally, it’s always good to have extra skills as an emcee… and personally, well, let’s just say that I have more moves now! I’m also very grateful that I got to make new friends from all walks of life, and it’s fun to be able to share this experience with my good friends Shawn (Wong) and Marcus (Bay).

OK, let’s get a little more personal. What are some of your goals, relationship-wise?

I want to start my own family, ideally before I’m 31.

So you’re a family man, huh?

Yeah, I feel like I’m very family-oriented! I like kids and I’m good with them. I want to have my first kid by 31, and the dream is to have two to three mini-mes – at least one daughter and one son.
