If we were to describe K-pop boy group VIXX in one word, it would be “creative”. VIXX’s performances are generally constructed to portray a particular theme or concept, in which they’ve ventured into aplenty. From vampires, to cyborgs, and even Jekyll and Hyde, no concept seems impossible for the sextet to pull off.
After an 18-month wait, the boys returned to Singapore, performing at ZEPP @ Big Box for their Shangri-La tour and proved their mettle by performing their hit songs and interacted with Starlights with a light-hearted interactive session.
Here are five standout moments from the concert.

Hyuk's "Your eyes bling bling"
After opening the concert with hits “Fantasy” and “Desperate”, the sextet greeted Singaporean Starlights, with Hyuk remarking in English, “Everyone… Your eyes bling bling.” He then turned to Leo, the member beside him and playfully teased, “His eyes bling bling.” This evoked squeals from fans. Ken went on to explain that Hyuk has been quite the romantic lately, now that he is starring in a romance drama.
Their powerhouse vocals are more than just laudable
Right off the bat, we can’t deny that VIXX has a prominent vocal line. Despite executing vigorous dance moves that are physically-demanding, their live vocals were still impeccable. Main vocalists Leo and Ken showed off their power pipes through in songs such as “Fantasy”, “The Closer” and “The Romance Is Over”.
They had a casual catching-up session
Midway into the concert, the boys had a casual catching-up session with a gallery of pictures to let Starlights in on their individual activities.
VIXX LR, a sub-unit consisting of Leo and Ravi, showed photos of their first concert in Seoul last month. They also sang a verse of “Whisper”, making the crowd go wild with excitement. Ravi went on to share more about his new mixtape track “Boiling Point” and being the host of Style Follow, a beauty show.
Leo, Ken and N revealed that they are starring in musicals: Leo, who will be playing the Crowned Prince Rudolph in the musical The Last Kiss, shared a selfie he had taken with his fellow co-stars, including EXO’s Suho; Ken is part of a musical Titanic, while Leader N has been part of Interview, a Korean-Japanese musical where he played the role of a character with five different personalities. He confessed, “It was a very rewarding experience.” Both also sang a verse of the songs from their musicals.
Hongbin showed pictures of himself on the set of his newest rom-com drama Wednesday 3:30PM.
Hyuk shared that he also been filming, and acts as a character who plays the saxaphone in a movie titled Goodbye My Father.
They joked that the stage director was biased towards Ravi
It was obvious that the members were more than just comfortable on stage, as seen from their playful banters and teasing comments with their members and fans. Upon sharing about their individual activities, the members voiced their discontent with the fact that Ravi had more pictures to share about. N also pointed out that Ravi’s mic was also the loudest and he jested, “Why is your mic so loud? I could only hear you when we were performing…”
They joked that the stage director was showing favouritism to Ravi because he had sang him a song earlier on. N then walked out on them and Leo took the chance to introduce VIXX as five without him – nothing new there, they love making fun of their leader and it’s all part of their group dynamics.
N wanted to backhug the members but they tried everything to stop him
Towards the end of the two-hour set, VIXX sat down again for “Ask VIXX”, a segment where the boys had to pick a post-it and either answer the question or carry out the request on it.
N unabashedly chose a request that required him to give a backhug to his members, along with a compliment. He sighed, “I really don’t want to do this, but for the fans, I will”. But everyone was aware of his true intentions – N is known for initiating skinship with his members, regardless of whether they like it or not.
This, of course, did not sit well with the other members who tried everything to avoid him. The cheeky members poured water on one another and kept a gloomy expression upon receiving the hug.
After all the chaos, Hongbin admitted, “The backhug has turned the mood down.”
N rebutted by asking, “Shall I do [the backhug] again?” But Leo quickly cut him off and urged, “Let’s move on to the next song!”
