It’s not all rainbows and butterflies when you share a bed with a partner. They not only have their own filth (like dead skin cells and fallen hair) but also their own unique hygiene habits (some of which can be really questionable).
And when it comes to the post-sex situation, there’s the whole should-we-do-the-laundry dance. Ideally, the sheets get washed within the next two days, but we live in a less-than-ideal world, and Mattress Advisor has found that the average person waits eight days before washing sex-stained sheets.
The survey involving over 1,000 people found that, after sexual activity, men wait an average of 11.7 days before changing their sheets, and women wait an average of 4.3 days. So that’s an average of eight days.
OK, maybe some of you think it isn’t all that bad to drift off into slumber in sex-stained sheets since the grime belongs to you and your partner. That’s for you to decide, of course, but you might want to think twice if you tend to end up in the beds of strangers.
The survey also found that, after a one-night stand, men wait an average of 18.1 days before changing their sheets. Eighteen.
So the next time you’re getting it on with someone you hardly know, you might want to think about the bacteria hotbed you might be lying on, and maybe figure out a way to not put your bare butt on a spot you don’t know.
FYI, women wait an average of 2.2 days. Yeah, IKR.
The survey also found some other pretty cool information — like how many days you can leave your sheets unchanged before you make people want to gag. Scroll the gallery to check them out.
