We all secretly wish to be an It Girl – well, most of us anyway.
It’s not just about the fame. It’s about having the whole package, and we’re not talking about looks.
After all, being an It Girl entails so much more than just looking gorgeous. You’re not just a pretty face. You’re beautiful from the inside. Because only then will you be able to influence others.
It’s about making a change, not on Emma Watson’s scale, but in your own little way.
Here are five ways to be an It Girl.
- Be nice
Don’t be a faker or a basic b*tch – no one likes those. Genuineness goes a long way, so be sincere in your words and actions and people will flock to you. The first step to becoming an IT girl is for people to actually enjoy your company and want to be like you.
There’s a reason why Cara Delevingne is so popular. It’s not just because she’s everywhere on billboards, but also because she packs a stellar, no-holds-barred personality. She’s not afraid to be candid in both her appearance and opinions (just look at her Instagram) while retaining sensitivity. An It Girl stands by her values and opinions, but at the same time, she doesn’t disregard others’ POV.
- Look the part
You don’t have to douse yourself in expensive lotions and creams to look presentable. All it takes is effort. If you can look like a million bucks with just moisturiser and sunblock on your face, then wear that confidence out and proud. The most important thing is to look well-groomed, and not like you just rolled out of bed. By looking presentable, you’re letting others know that they matter enough for you to put in effort to look your best for them.
Nothing is sexier than a confident woman. You don’t have to make a political statement or change the world like Angelina Jolie. What’s important is self-confidence. Recognise your abilities and take charge. However, this doesn’t mean you have to be overconfident and overbearing. Strike a balance.
- Don’t be afraid to be unique
Uniqueness is not something to be embarrassed about. It doesn’t matter if others laugh at your habit of collecting Transformers figurines; it doesn’t matter if they think you overdress for every occasion. Embrace your uniqueness because that’s what makes you you. After all, an It Girl is a trendsetter, so she shouldn’t be afraid of being herself.
