This Is How Often You Should Be Washing Your Pillowcase For Clear Skin

Before we reveal the answer to the golden question, let us pose this question: How often do you wash your bedsheets?

If your answer is once a year, you need intervention right now. But most of us only wash the sheets when we deem it to be dirty, which means it’s at least a three-week cycle.

But based on an interview that news.com.au did with cleaning guru Shannon Lush, you need to wash your bedsheets every week – assuming you shower at least once a day. But then again, in Singapore’s weather, you obviously need to shower once a day for hygiene reasons.

But what comes as a shocker is how often you should be using fresh pillowcases. Shannon said, “However, pillowcases should be changed every second day without fail. It’s against your face, and your hair holds more dirt than anywhere else on the body. It’s like a mop.”

She added, “It collects old skin cells, which we shed especially when we are asleep. The pillow is a major cause of blackheads.”

If you’ve been using the same pillowcase for a month, that could be the reason for your breakouts. After all, one of the reasons for breakouts is the accumulation of dirt and bacteria on your skin.

Now, that’s something even the best of sleeping masks can’t help because it’s akin to using expensive facial creams and then rubbing your face on a dirty surface. Eww!

But if you’re really too lazy to do change pillowcases every other day, wrap your pillow with a towel, and change the towel on alternate days (or every day if you can)! Of course, we mean a clean towel and not the one you use to bathe!
