Going somewhere in Asia this year end? Booking website TripAdvisor said on Thursday (Oct 6) that now is the best time to book hotels in the region.
Analysing booking trends around the world, TripAdvisor found that making bookings from September onwards helps save on Asian hotel stays in the last two weeks of December.
Ms Janice Lee Fang, TripAdvisor’s communications director for Asia Pacific, said that travellers who waited could save at least 16 per cent compared with peak prices.
The average room in Asia costs $93 during the December holidays, according to TripAdvisor. Hanoi is the cheapest Asian destination that TripAdvisor lists, with room rates averaging $48, while Tokyo is the priciest, at $147.
Those who hanker after staycations should expect an average room rate of $153 in Singapore.
Some other travel destinations that give last-minute planners good value for money are the South Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the United States, where savings are biggest during Thanksgiving week in November.
