“My style is quite eclectic to begin with so I don't usually go too crazy with my makeup for fear of having too much going on. I've definitely tried darker lipstick colours like plum, berry, brown and wine red before though, but nothing as intense as dark grey.
I did feel that with lipstick as bold as this, you definitely can't wear your usual everyday makeup and call it a day. I had to pile on the eye makeup just to balance out the lips, giving my look a certain goth sensibility. Taking a selfie was challenging as well. I felt the need to line the inner part of my lips and only smile with my mouth closed as it looked strange if any whites or pinks of my mouth showed.
It's definitely not something I'll be wearing on the regular to be honest, but I might bust it out every now and then if I need to give one of my girlier looks some much-needed edge!”

“I got the palest grey shade of the lot and thought I was going to look like a ghost. I decided to go all out in matchy-grey – from my locks down to my lips and #ootd. The colour first comes out looking a bit chalky reminding me of cement but thank goodness it doesn’t feel like one. But to make the lip look more interesting, I decided to apply a berry lip on my inner lips to give it a bit more colour. Yes, I cheated but there are no rules here anyway, it’s all about making it work for you after all.”

“If I were to be honest, my lazy office outfit comprises a sweatshirt and jeans. I only dress up on days when I have meetings and events, and even then, I don't have a fixed style. My go-to dress-up-while-dressing-down look has got to be jeans, a tee and a thin coat. So when Cynthia told me to channel the K-pop look, I picked my go-to look because that's how K-celebs dress to the airport, no?
The only problem: the grey lipstick. While LANEIGE Silk Intense Lipstick in Forest Fantasy is moisturising, you can still see your natural lip colour peeking through even after two layers, so the result is a mess of pink-toned grey. Not the best look. So I decided to conceal my lips so the colour payoff would be better. The foundation and lip concealer caused my lips to be a bit dry, but the result was definitely better. However, since the grey is quite pale (like dried cement), it makes me look rather sickly. The solution? Since K-pop is all about two-toned lips, I pair it with LANEIGE Silk Intense Lipstick in Get the Red by layering red over the grey so instead of coming off as a dried rose petal shade, it appears purplish. Definitely more wearable for my skin tone than wearing the grey on its own!”

"Smashbox says this new colour, Chill Zone is the hottest new lipstick shade in LA. Though I'm guessing all those girls rushing out to buy it don't work in an office. I wouldn't wear it every day but I actually quite like the drama it brings to a look. It goes on really smoothly and dries to a nice purple-grey. It's not impossible to wear even though I think I looked a little washed out. I actually tried to keep it on all day but gave up after lunch. It does not look good after a meal so you need to make sure you have it on hand to touch up at all times!"

“The formula went on pretty smoothly, which was a relief because having grey smudged all over your mouth is not going to be a good look! It's a little intense for daily wear, but I think this shade is perfect for when I want to transform my day makeup for a night out with just one product.”
