CLEO Tries: Hair Products That Tame That Frizz
One of the main reasons your hair gets frizzy is because it’s dry and damaged. This mean the hair cuticles are lifted, making it easier for moisture from the air to enter the hair shaft, leaving it looking puffy, big, unruly or what we know as frizzy.
The key is to pick products that nourish and hydrate hair so the cuticles are smoothed, making it difficult for moisture from the air to enter. The result? Smooth, silky hair. To help you along the way, the CLEO team tried a variety of frizz fighting products from hair masks, conditioners and even an oil, so you can pick one that’s right for you.

I use anti-frizz treatments regularly and this one tops the list. It does its job well—it softens hair and smooths stray strands—but the best part is that it doesn't leave a sticky residue typical of other treatments. Plus, it smells really nice.

Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Cap System, $53
I don’t use a hair mask regularly because I really dislike having to sit in the bathroom for 15 minutes while waiting for the benefits of the mask to be absorbed. But this one comes with a hair cap, which means you can essentially sit anywhere around your house without worrying that the mask would drip down your back. The instructions said to leave it on for at least 15 minutes—I left it for 20. My hair became softer and didn’t become frizzy after I blow-dried it. It also gives my natural curls a bit of definition which makes them look nicer. I tried this in the morning, so I don’t know how the moisture would hold overnight. The price is pretty steep for a one-time use though.

Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque And Tangle Tamer Set, $65
I love it! My hair is definitely much smoother and more nourished after using it just a couple of times. I could say it shows great results after the first use as it helps to untangle my hair easily and makes my hair look silkier than before. And all you need is a small amount. The coconut scent is wonderful and lasts for a few days on my hair. And the packaging is adorable!

Abyssian Hair Serum, $53
If you’re looking for a fuss free, zero time consuming way to fight frizz, this is a good option. I like to comb a couple of pumps of the serum through wet lengths before I blow dry my hair. I find my blow dry is smoother and there are less flyaways. Once I’m done, I use one pump as a finishing treatment on the lengths, concentrating on the ends. This helps keep my hair smooth and glossy. It also has an addictive scent, but doesn’t linger very long—which is great if you’re not a fan of heavily scented hair products.

Ouai Hair Treatment Masque, $48
My hair cannot be tamed unless I attack it with a blow dryer after a wash. But after one wash and letting it air dry, I noticed that it's less frizzy and tangled than it would be normally. The lustre shine in my dark hair is also a bonus!
