We’ve got a big secret to tell you: applying blush is not that difficult. With these five tips about blush application, you’ll never see a bad blusher day ever again.
Find your texture
There are three different blush textures to choose from – cream, powder and liquid (tint). Creame gives a soft, dewy look and is easiest to control when applied with fingers. Powder is the fastest to put on – one sweep with a soft blush brush across cheeks and you’re set. And liquid sinks into skin creating the most natural effect.
Work the apples
While eye and lip makeup requires precision, blush doesn’t. For a demure style, blend a soft rose shade across the cheeks towards the temples. For a girlie look, concentrate a brighter pink on the apples of the cheeks. Or, for a naturally flushed look, blend a stain just under a semicircle.
Lipstick doubles as a great cheek cream, so for seamlessly feminine makeup. Use the same tone on both cheeks and lips.
Looking drained at the end of the day? Instead of reapplying makeup, dab cream or sweep on a powder blush in a golden bronze or peach shade for that “fresh at 9am” look.
Do your eyes as well
Unlike the beauty rule against wearing heavy eye makeup with a strong lip colour, it’s totally acceptable to create a sultry smokey eye combined with a soft pop of blush on the cheeks.
