When RiRi hinted at another product drop as part of the Beach Please collection, we were like yasss please! With three new Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duos that come with a hyper metallic finish, limited edition 2-in-1 Liquid Eye Shimmers and Iridescent Lip Luminizers, we weren’t disappointed. But if you’re wondering how you can work these gorgeous highlighters into your makeup routine, we got Fenty Beauty Global Makeup Artist Hector Espinal to share his top tips.
How much highlighter is too much?
When it starts looking greasy.
So how do you make sure your skin looks glowy instead of greasy?
It’s so easy to look greasy, especially with the climate here. The key here is to make sure that the centre is matte. Your T-zone should always be blotted because that’s the first thing you see. Especially the area around the chin, the forehead, underneath the eyes and the bridge of the nose get very oily, so make sure it’s matte. As long as the centre is matte, the perimeter can be shiny and that creates dimension.
How should you choose your highlighter according to your skin tone?
It’s Fenty Beauty, you can choose whatever you like whenever you like. It’s makeup – if you don’t like it, take it off and try something different!
What’s the best way to layer your highlighter?
We always layer; even Rihanna always likes to layer highlighters to create more dimension. She doesn’t stop at just one tone. You could definitely layer Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick underneath since that’s a cream and set it with a different powder or using the other original Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duos with the new Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duos to create more dimension.
Can you use the lip and eye products as highlighters as well?
Personally, I always use the Gloss Bomb on my eyelids and cheeks. You could use the 2-in-1 Liquid Eye Shimmer on the eyes, cheeks and lips, and the Iridescent Lip Luminizer Trios would look lovely on the eyes too! The only ones I don’t recommend for eyes is anything with red dye when it comes to the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick because you may be allergic.
How can we create an everyday look with one of the more daring shades?
