You may already know it. Oils have been growing steadily in popularity, specifically facial oil because of its many known benefits. For many of us who live in this part of the world where we’re bombarded by heat and humidity constantly, we are probably over-doing things to keep our skin clean and dry. As a result, we may be unknowingly stripping our skin of its much-needed natural oils. When stripped of oil through over-washing or other factors, our skin will respond by producing even more oil to compensate. Do you know that skin problems such as acne and clogged pores are often exacerbated by a deficiency of essential fatty acids? This is why feeding the skin with oils will actually make it less oily!

Think of facial oils as the protective shield for our skin. It helps to strengthen and maintain its lipid barrier, block external influences such as extreme temperatures, over-cleansing and low humidity. The facial oil is great not only to quench parched winter skin or occasional dry, flaky, or dehydrated skin, but it also makes a great moisturiser when used all year long as part of a daily skincare regimen. Use it alone or under a moisturiser. When applying facial oil before an anti-ageing cream, the oil molecules will aid the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the epidermis, all without irritating the surface. If you’re still worried about using an oil for day, keep it to night use only and add a little massage while you’re at it too.
