We Tried This Cult-Favourite Concealer. Here’s How It Fared
While Tarte cosmetics products have been available in Singapore at Sephora for a while now, it was only recently that the cult-favourite Shape Tape Contour Concealer was launched here. Available in 28 shades, it’s a full coverage concealer that blends easily to disguise blemishes. But given the wide range of shades, it can also be used to contour and highlight.
With rave reviews from a majority of beauty bloggers, YouTubers, beauty editors and just about everyone who has tried it, the Shape Tape Contour Concealer is clearly highly recommended. To see if it really lived up to the hype, the CLEO team decided to give it a go.

When I first heard Shape Tape was gonna be launched in Singapore, I was tres excited. Almost every YouTuber had gushed about how good the product is, so why would I not want to try it? The coverage, as the YouTubers have attested to, was spectacular. I only needed a smidge to conceal my dark circles—and I have a serious case or dark circles, so that says a lot about the product. I picked a colour that’s close to my skin tone (because while I always wear concealers that are a shade lighter, a shade down would be too fair for me). Plus, I heard it doesn’t oxidise, so no harm, right? It looked fine before I set it with loose powder but once I set it, it oxidised. So my undereyes looked darker than the rest of my face. I tried to lighten it by piling on more powder (rookie mistake). Now my undereyes just look cakey. And my lines are accentuated. I might try a lighter shade just to see if it will work without me piling on all the powder.

I still can't find a concealer good enough to hide my dark circles completely. And while this formula takes a while to blend, it is heavy duty and it covers blemishes completely with long-lasting coverage.

I have dry skin and this concealer isn’t supposed to be the best for this skin type. Still, I wanted to try it. I found a shade that matched (#win) and was impressed with the coverage—a little bit really goes a long way. It’s easily bendable too. But it creases and settles into fine lines under the eyes. I have tried using it alone, mixing it in with a smidge of eye cream and even dabbing it on with my fingers. Nothing helps. It does hold up well when I use it on the rest of my face thought. I really wanted to love you Shape Tape Contour Concealer, I did. It’s me, not you.

I love the powdery finish and huge applicator. It is easy to use and while I usually use loose powder to set my concealer, I skipped that step when I had this on! It is not cakey, but it does settle into my fine lines under my eyes so I keep it in my handbag for little touch-ups. This is my first Tarte product, and I'm looking forward to try other Tarte products now!
