If you were at the CLEO PAR-TEA with Suisai last weekend, congrats because you went home with useful skincare tips. But if you weren’t there, fret not—we took notes for you.

At the session, Kanebo Cosmetics’ Regional Trainer Jaime Chan spoke about Suisai Beauty Clear Powder, a unique powder cleanser that was awarded Best Exfoliator for Acne-prone Skin at the 2019 CLEO Clear Skin Awards. She also dished out tips on how to properly cleanse skin for a clearer complexion. Here’s what we learnt.

Cleanse with foam, not fingers

To reduce friction on your skin, don’t press your fingers directly onto your skin when you cleanse. Rather, leave about 1mm of foam to act as a cushion when you cleanse your face.

Use the Suisai Beauty Clear Powder as a pimple treatment

Thanks to active cleansing ingredients, the product can also act as a pimple treatment. Simply leave the foam on the affected area (not your whole face!) for up to three minutes. Jaime said you should notice a visible improvement in a week.

Don’t forget your hairline

While cleansing, don’t forget to tackle often-neglected areas such as your hairline (including the back of your neck, if you have short hair) and ears.

Don’t over-cleanse your U-zone

Jaime said that unless your breakouts are due to hormones, most people break out on their T-zone, which is usually oilier than the rest of your face. As such, it’s important to pay closer attention to the T-zone and not over-cleanse your U-zone.

If your product contains enzymes, don’t keep it after opening it

Jaime mentioned that due to the enzymes it contains, the Beauty Clear Powder has to be used immediately after opening for it to work effectively. This means you can’t use, say, half and store the remaining in a Ziploc bag to use later in the day, as the enzymes will no longer be effective.
