Calories don’t count when you’re on a holiday. Food lovers, here are nine places that you must make a stop at when you’re in Sydney. And yes, some of these places make for extremely photogenic Instagram subjects too because obviously, your camera eats first.
So. The first thing @ericsimidai and I did after touching down in Sydney is to haul ass over to the super hipster The Grounds of Alexandria for coffee and avocado toast. *insert mandatory real estate joke here* Oh, and the funny thing is we aren't actually traveling together. But I guess our basic instincts made sure that we find each other even though we're far from home lulz.
Touched down in Sydney for a brief stint to attend a special foodie event this evening, and when I saw my hotel was within a short walk of @bourkestreetbakery, I had to go. This ginger brûlée tart was TO DIE FOR. One of the most delicious desserts I've ever had. - Harry’s Café de Wheels
This pie cart is iconic. Order their signature Harry’s Tiger, which is a chunky lean beef pie served with mashed potatoes and mushy peas. If you’re still hungry after that, people have also said good things about their hot dogs.

This fine dining restaurant is at the Opera House and boasts amazing views of the harbour, so if you’re looking to splurge on one meal while you’re in Sydney, make it Bennelong. Besides the stellar food, it’s also a super romantic spot – we witnessed at least one proposal when we were there for lunch. Tip: Make your reservation at least three weeks in advance to ensure a good seat by the windows!

You can never go wrong with oysters and wine. And you’re doing the environment good when you dine here as well, because the restaurant prides itself in using sustainable and locally-sourced seafood. They also only use either biodegradable or compostable packaging. Cheers to that!

Considered to be one of Sydney’s best bakeries, you’ve got to pop by Bourke Street when you’re in Surry Hills. Their Ginger Brulée Tart has been described as “legendary” and “life-changing”, so you know, gotta get yourself a bite of that.

Café brunches are a must when you’re in Sydney, and Bills is without a doubt, one of the best brunch spots in town. Do yourself a favour and order the Ricotta pancakes – those fluffy pieces of golden brown perfection are to die for.
