All The Times Celebs Were Super Extra At Their Weddings
Weddings always bring the drama. Here are some celeb couples who pulled out all the stops for their big day, and became the kind of extra that we plebeians can only dream of.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas
It’s not that uncommon to have two weddings, especially if the bride and groom are both from different countries. In this case, Sophie Turner (who is from the UK) and Joe Jonas (who is from the US) tied the knot first in Las Vegas after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. What we loved most about this first wedding stunt was that their officiant was an Elvis impersonator, they had Diplo as their wedding DJ, and the rings they exchanged were… Ring Pops. Then they had a second wedding in Paris, where Sophie wore a gorgeous Louis Vuitton wedding gown.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Joe wasn’t the only Jonas Brother who got hitched in the past year! Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas also tied the knot, and wew—what a spectacle it was. The ceremony was held at an actual palace in India, Priyanka donned a 75-foot veil (that’s more than 22m), and changed into a lehenga that took close to 4,000 hours to make for the Hindu ceremony. And oh, the reception was held at the Taj Mahal, and the blushing bride made her appearance with a three-tiered diamond necklace with matching earrings. Victoria and David Beckham
He was a football star on the rise, and she was a Spice Girl. So you bet their wedding was extravagant. It took place in an actual castle, they had his and hers gold thrones, and they even cut their wedding cake with a sword, because knives are too mainstream.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Before their wedding, there was the pre-party that took place in the Palace of Versailles in France, where Lana Del Rey performed. They then flew their guests to Florence, Italy, the next morning, where they got married in 16th century castle in front of that infamous flower wall. Kimye even got Italian classical singer Andrea Bocelli to sing as Kim walked down in aisle – in Givenchy couture, no less – and John Legend to croon as they did their first dance. And place cards are too basic for Kimye – they opted to have their guests’ names engraved on a marble table instead.
Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney
Dubbed the wedding of the year in 2014, Amal and George’s nuptials spanned four days, and the guest list includes names like Anna Wintour, Matt Damon, Bono and Emily Blunt. Apparently, the couple ordered 200 bottles of vodka and 250 bottles of champagne for the wedding. Makes you wonder what went on during the party, eh?
Hannah Quinlivan and Jay Chou
According the Apple Daily, this was the most extravagant wedding in Taiwanese entertainment. Taking place in an 11th century church in North Yorkshire, Hannah’s bridal jewellery reportedly cost more than $13 million and Jay even composed a song just for the occasion. He also personally oversaw the rehearsals of the church orchestra to make sure that everything was perfect for his big day, which caused the ceremony to be delayed by a few hours. They also held another wedding ceremony in Taipei.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise
Their wedding took place in – where else – a castle. Seriously, what’s up with celebs and getting married in castles? But anyway, Katie’s Armani wedding gown was entirely encrusted in Swarovski crystals, and the entire shindig reportedly costs $3.5 million. Oh, to be rich and famous.
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt
Ah, back when these two were the Golden Couple of Hollywood. Although it seems modest by today’s standards, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s wedding had a fireworks display and 50,000 flowers. What do you even do with that many flowers?
Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming
Angelababy made the headlines because her wedding cost more than Kimye’s, and that’s saying something. In fact, the wedding cost $31 million. In comparison, Kate Middleton’s royal wedding to Prince William cost $34 million. The entire ceremony was live-streamed, and Angelababy had a 3 metre-long train for her wedding gown. And forget wedding hashtags. These two had a wedding logo, which is a combination of both their names, that was embossed on everything – from the venue’s façade to the cookies served. As for wedding favours? Apparently, the goodie bag even contained mobile phones. Wowza.
