It’s no secret that the boys of Got7 are full of humour and mischief. JB, Youngjae, Mark, BamBam, Junior, Yugyeom and Jackson brought their shenanigans to our sunny island with their 1st Concert Fly in Singapore at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre last weekend.
Although this wasn’t their first time in Singapore, it was their first time having a full-fledged solo concert here, and the fans came out full-force. After the open press conference mania last Thursday, fans dived straight into concert mode the next day, lighting up the convention centre with green lightsticks – the group’s official fanclub colour.
In true Got7 manner, the concert started and ended on a light note, with Youngjae hilariously saying, “Singapore so hot, you guys [are] so hot people”. Smooth Youngjae, very smooth.
Here are the highlights of the night.
BamBam’s obsession with dabbing
You know that annoying dance move where you look like you’re sneezing? It seems BamBam has a major addiction to it, breaking out in it mid-dance, using it to
Jackson and his running man challenge
It was to be expected, seeing how he posted a video of himself doing the running man challenge on Instagram. Jackson found every possible opportunity to inject his antics into the three-hour long concert, but it was obvious the running man dance was his favourite amusement.
When they proved they are men who can form a girl group
Got7 as boyish heartthrobs is perfect, but Got7 as a girl group? Just take our money. And we’re not talking about just one, but two girl groups! Donning purple frocks and knee-length socks, Youngjae, Mark and Junior did an adorable rendition of GFriend’s “Me Gustas Tu”, and we can’t get over how pretty Mark is. Not to be outdone, JB, Yugyeom, Jackson and BamBam performed a powerful cover of Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb”. BamBam and Jackson almost gave the Red Velvet girls a run for their money with their super cute dance moves.
Their scream-inducing moves
Pelvic thrusts and booty shaking? Oh yes, please. As usual, Got7 showcased their sharp and synchronised choreography, but what made the fans go wild was their naughty dances and adorable bromance. Songs such as “Can’t” may have incorporated many lower body movements, but Junior and Mark took it a step further and went down low with their take on “American dance”. The best treat for fans? The members didn’t skimp on their teasing skinship moments.
When they dedicated a cover of JJ Lin’s “If Only” to Singapore fans
We had a pleasant surprise when the boys said they have a gift for Singapore and it turned out to be a cover of homegrown artiste, JJ Lin’s “If Only”. We have to admit, they did a pretty darn amazing job, especially the non-native Chinese members. After the serenade, BamBam commented that there are too many guos (果 – the same guo as fruit) in the song voiced his craving for huoguo (hotpot), before they all flew into a conversation of hotpots and Hai Di Lao, a popular hotpot chain.
Their English skills
With Mark, BamBam and Jackson’s English prowess, the other members do not have to worry about translating and communication, but we were truly touched when the other members did their best to communicate with their fans using English, and occasionally expressing their feelings through song and dance. We love you too!
Their care and concern for I Got7s
We all know how much Got7 care for their fans, asking I Got7s if they had fun and to take care of their health. But when Mark told everyone to get home safely, let’s just say we died a little inside. When Junior bid farewell with “Please love only Got7,” fans cheered fervently in agreement. As the boys bade goodbye after their encore stage, some fans started throwing their mobile phone on stage in a bid to get selfies from the members. Jackson told the fans not to because “it’s dangerous [and] it’s expensive!”
