Beauty and the Beast is beautiful, whether in cartoon form or the latest live-action movie. But Korean illustrator Wooh Nayoung, or Obsidian, just proved that Belle and Beast are breathtaking even when reimagined as Koreans.
The illustrator posted her take on Beauty and the Beast on Facebook earlier this month and wrote, “I worked on the official collaboration with the #Disney movie “#BeautyandtheBeast” which was released this March. It is a poster work with a Korean Makeover. It is currently being exhibited at Yeouido CGV. As a fan of the original animation and #EmmaWatson, it was a very enjoyable work!”
The poster showed Belle wearing a yellow hanbok (Korean traditional dress) and Beast in a blue robe that was usually worn by Korean royalty in ancient times.
This was not her only fairytale-themed work. Previously, she has done Eastern reinterpretations of various fairytales, from Little Red Riding Hood to Alice in Wonderland.
