So yesterday, there was an Internet feud between Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. Biebs’ manager, Scooter Braun, had bought the rights to Taylor Swift’s old masters and the singer was not happy. She claimed to have been bullied by Scooter for a long time and called him buying her rights her worst nightmare.
Some of the things she mentioned included how he made Justin and Kanye bully her online (she pulled a 2016 Instagram post as receipt). Justin apologised for the post and then went on to tell her not to bully Scooter. (Full story below.)
After the whole debacle, Taylor didn’t comment on it, but one of her moves on the World Wide Web made fans wonder whether she confirmed that Justin had cheated on his ex-girlfriend and her best friend, Selena Gomez.
She had liked a post that wrote, “‘We haven’t gotten to communicate our differences.’ You cheated on her best friend and then publicly sided with the man who made revenge porn against her, was she supposed to invite you over for tea??? F**k outta here.”
Taylor had mentioned the revenge porn aspect in her Tumblr post, saying that Kanye had stripped her naked in his music video in an act of revenge porn, but the fact that she liked the comment that also mentioned Biebs’ infidelity leaves one to wonder… so did Biebs really cheat?
Obviously, neither Justin, Taylor and Selena have commented on it—not that they should, since it’s their private affair. But infidelity is serious and if JB really did that, all we can say is, “WTF Justin?!”
If you woke up to Justin Bieber’s apology to Taylor Swift on Instagram and wondering what the eff is going on, you’re not alone.
The Biebs essentially apologised for a 2016 Instagram post in which he made fun of Taylor, and clarified that his manager, Scooter Braun, had no part in it. Wait, huh?

Hey Taylor. First of all i would like to apologize for posting that hurtful instagram post, at the time i thought it was funny but looking back it was distasteful and insensitive.. I have to be honest though it was my caption and post that I screenshoted of scooter and Kanye that said “taylor swift what up” he didnt have anything to do with it and it wasnt even a part of the conversation in all actuality he was the person who told me not to joke like that.. Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you.! As the years have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences, hurts or frustrations. So for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter. Anyway, One thing i know is both scooter and i love you. I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication. So banter back and fourth online i dont believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and i would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or or any feelings that need to be addressed. Neither scooter or i have anything negative to say about you we truly want the best for you. I usually don’t rebuttal things like this but when you try and deface someone i loves character thats crossing a line..
Here’s the background story to clear things up: Taylor posted a Tumblr post to lambaste Scooter for buying the rights to her music from Scott Borchet, the founder of her former label Big Machine Label Group.
“When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them,” she wrote. “Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter.”
She said it wasn’t fair for her to not have the opportunity to buy her music herself. She wrote, “I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.”
She added, “Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever.”
She went on to say how Scooter had orchestrated the whole Kanye West-Kim Kardashian video debacle (in which Kim recorded their convo and T-Swift clearly agreed to how her name would be used in the lyrics) and how Scooter had made Justin bully her through the 2016 Instagram post—a screengrab of his video call with Kanye and Scooter with the caption “What up Taylor Swift”. The post came weeks after the Kim video scandal. Taylor included this screengrab in her Tumblr post.
So that’s why JB took it to Instagram to clarify that Scooter has nothing to do with the post and even told him not to do it. And he went on to say how it’s unfair for Taylor to attack Scooter. All clear now?
According to Scooter’s wife, Yael, Taylor should have known about the deal. She was informed of the deal before the rest of the world and she “passed” on the opportunity. Plus, her dad is on the board of directors and the agenda has been discussed for a week.
Maybe her dad couldn’t discuss the deal because you know, directors cannot anyhow discuss business deals outside the boardroom.
Maybe Taylor missed the memo sent to her about her masters being up for grabs.
Maybe she was offered a deal, but didn’t know who the other potential buyer was. Judging by her blog post, it seemed she would have been OK with anyone else purchasing the rightsanyone but Scooter.
Maybe none of the above happened—we’ll never know.
Hailey Bieber played the part of a loyal wife and left a comment on Justin’s post with a simple caption, “Gentleman”.
That did not go down well with Cara Delevingne, who called her out for the description and wrote to Bieber, “You must be bored.”
She also told him to spend less time backing up men and more time understanding women, which is fair—and he really should, but we feel like at this point, we are on the side of truth (not just gender). If Scooter did bypass T-Swift to buy the rights, that was a dick move and shame on him. If Taylor knew about the deal the company had with Scooter and turned the opportunity to buy the rights, then she really doesn’t have a case against him.
But, if Scooter really has been bullying Taylor just because she’s a woman, that man needs serious help.
We can’t know for sure, but we feel like this might be a new Taylor Swift song in the making.
