Ever watched a show and dreamed about playing it as a video game? Netflix heard you. The video-streaming app just announced that they’re working with some of the biggest game developers to turn a few Netflix Original series into video games. Yes, you can now be a part of the series and even be one of the characters. So far, only three games have been confirmed, but the company has hinted that there will be more. Obviously, everyone’s favourite Stranger Things series are part of the lineup.
In fact, the show’s latest season, Stranger Things 3, which will premiere on July 4, will have a game version that’s launched on the same day!
We won’t blame you if you have trouble deciding which to get on first.
In this game, players can choose a character among 12 from the show before teaming up with a friend from the local co-op and getting to experience the world of Hawkins. Great adventures await players as they are tasked to challenge the Mind Flayer as well as decode puzzles along the way. It’ll be available globally on Nintendo Switch, XBOX One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, Android and iOS.
Another Stranger Things game will be launched in 2020.
What makes this upcoming game different is that it’s a location-based RPG/Puzzle mobile game that lets players venture The Upside Down hidden around them in their daily travels. Basically like Pokémon GO with a dark twist. This multiplayer game allows players to work together to take down the emerging evils in the game.
Recently, a Scoops Ahoy easter egg was spotted in Fornite when the season 9 of the game launched, possibly hinting that a collaboration between Fornite and Stranger Things are currently in the works.
Of course, it’s not only Stranger Things that’s getting the love. The upcoming Netflix Original series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which launches in August 2019, will be getting a game version this year.
This game will require fans to recruit an army of characters from the vast fantasy world of Thra. Players will then be tasked to come out with strategic tactics to lead their team to victory in over 80 different campaign battles! It will be available on Nintendo Switch, XBOX One, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac.
You know what’s missing from this lineup? Bandersnatch, the game. Will we ever get to see the legendary game featured in Black Mirror? We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
