Former SMAP Member Takuya Kimura Causes 3-Vehicle Accident

No injuries were reported.

Former SMAP member Takuya Kimura was reportedly involved in a vehicle pile-up a few days ago. The Johnny & Associates artiste had rear-ended a motorcycle at a red light, which, in turn, caused a collision with another car.

The incident, which happened in Chofu, Tokyo, had happened when Takuya allegedly accidentally released the brake of his car. The accident didn’t cause any injuries.

His agency released a statement, stating, “We deeply apologise for releasing the brake due to carelessness.” They added, “We deeply apologise for causing trouble to not only the victims, but also the fans and others involved.”

According to the police statement, Takuya had rear-ended the motorcycle at a low speed after releasing his brakes. He immediately contacted the police and followed their instructions.

SMAP announced their disbandment last year. While Takuya and Masahiro Nakai will remain as talents under Johnny & Associates, the other members will leave the company once their contracts end in September this year.
