8 Things You Missed At Kim Yoo Jung’s Fan Meeting In Singapore
More than six months after Moonlight Drawn by Clouds took the world by storm, Korean actress Kim Yoo Jung finally made a pit-stop in Singapore last weekend, as part of her first series of fan meetings, aptly named “First Memory”.
The 17-year-old actress had an intimate session held at a ballroom Grand Copthorne Hotel, where she interacted with around 200 fans, and even showed off her singing skills through three songs. Here are the highlights from the show.

She didn’t really like the romantic back hug scene in Moonlight Drawn by Clouds
After watching it, she remarked that she actually doesn’t like that scene, but the reason is pretty hilarious. She said, “I had to cry a lot shooting this scene, and my face became bloated. The camera was positioned in front of me. Bogum was hugging me from behind, and because he’s so tall, my face looks big.”
She learnt a Malay word
When the emcee pointed out that a Malay fan, who won a photo opportunity with Yoo Jung, was wearing an outfit of a similar colour palette as the actress’ hanbok, the fan joked that she had known what Yoo Jung would be wearing and deliberately dressed in the same colours. The emcee then taught the actress the word “baik” (which means good) as a retort to her joke. Although the actress managed to say the Malay word, the fan was, unfortunately, too busy trying to dry her Polaroid photo to pay attention.
She sang in Mandarin
The 17-year-old actress surprised fans with a rendition Stefanie Sun’s “Tian Hei Hei”. She said that while she had tried practising with the original song by the Singaporean singer, it was too difficult for her to follow, so she ended up using Roy Kim’s cover as a guide.
She showed off her drawing skills
During our earlier interview with the actress, she had revealed that she enjoys drawing in her free time. Fans got a sneak peek at just how good her skills are during a fan interaction segment where she and a lucky fan had to draw portraits of each other. Upon the emcee’s advice, the actress redrew the portrait after messing up her drawing of the fan’s nose. We must say that she did a pretty good job!
She ate kaya toast and teh tarik
During the fan meeting, she had a “date” with a lucky fan onstage, where they enjoyed kaya toast and teh tarik while the fan asked her questions. The actress revealed that it was her first time trying the local delicacy and that she had initially planned to try it the next morning, having heard rave reviews about it. She also revealed that she liked the taste of the drink. Looks like we know what Yoo Jung fans will be having for breakfast in the next few days.
She revealed that she actually wanted to cut her hair short
Yoo Jung, who has tried a variety of hairstyles for various roles, said, “My current hairstyle is one that I wanted. I cut it [recently]. I actually wanted to cut it really short, around chin-length, but I was afraid [my fans] might get a shock (laughs).”
"Pikachu" and "Panda" made an appearance
The male fans, one dressed in a Pikachu jacket and the other wearing a Panda cap, stole the show with their fervent show of love for the teen actress. Alvin and Leon, who were dubbed “Pikachu” and “Panda” for most of the night, had caught everyone’s attention since the start of the show, not because of their outfits, but from their passionate cheers for the actress. During a break, the host made them fight it out by goading them into showing who can better demonstrate their love for the actress. However, when they were indeed invited onstage to show Yoo Jung what they had done earlier, both suddenly turned shy and nervous. They each walked away with a photograph that was personally autographed by the actress on-the-spot, not only bearing their real names, but also “Pikachu” and “Panda” – both written in Korean.
She wants to learn how to drive
While actresses are usually driven around in a car by their manager, Yoo Jung is determined to pick up the life skill of driving. The 17-year-old said, “I have a lot of wishes but my biggest wish this year is to get a driving license. I hope to get it in one try.”
