Going Instagram-official can be daunting for a lot of people so you can only imagine the pressure celebrities face, having to publicly announce their relationship to the whole world, while not knowing when it might come to an end. However, a few brave souls have stepped up to announce their relationships on Instagram and giving us a glimpse of their romance through pictures that are totally #relationshipgoals. Here are some of our favorite Instagram-official posts that we’ve seen in the past year.
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger
The Guardians of the Galaxy star took the traditional route when deciding to go Instagram-official with his girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenegger. Does her surname sound familiar? Yes, she’s the daughter of former governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The couple have been reportedly together for seven months before he finally confirmed it on her birthday. He posted a collage of photos capturing moments that they have shared together, accompanied by the caption, “Happy Birthday, Chief!”.
Our tip: They only made their relationship public after meeting each other’s families and friends. If you’re worried your family might not take too well to your relationship, maybe hold off going Instagram-official just yet.
Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart
The onscreen couple surprised all of us when they admit to be dating IRL. I mean sure they were suspiciously close before but we were all under the impression that they were just best friends. Labeling each other best buds and BFFs sure had us fooled. Lili finally decided to make their relationship public on Cole’s birthday. She posted a beautiful sunset shot of Cole pointing at the camera and paired it with a cavity-inducing caption that read, “It seems as if the world would still be a stranger to me, if not for you. I’m so thankful that our paths intertwined to form this beautiful adventure~ Happy birthday, my love.”
Our tip: It may be scary to go Instagram-official but to tone down the seriousness of your post, try uploading it on a significant occasion. Like in their case, a partner’s birthday. In that way it doesn’t seem like you’re highlighting your relationship. Rather, you’re just introducing your partner casually.
The Weeknd and Bella are back at it again after being previously broken up. This is their second time going Instagram official and they seem to always get it right. If you missed it, their first Instagram official picture was on 10th December 2015, where Bella was in a bath of roses and Able was leaning over the tub. It was major couple goals, but this time he chose a more direct approach. Able posted a paparazzi video taken of them talking at a bar, followed by pictures of Bella. The couple didn’t try to hide their relationship in the video and gave the camera the kiss it was looking for. You don’t need to read the tabloids to get the tea on their relationship, just check out their Instagram pages for live updates!
Our tip: Similarly you can do it with a devil-may-care attitude, especially if it isn’t your first time. Show off your best moments followed by a nonchalant caption for a breezy impression.
Camila Mendes and Charles Melton
Rumours of Camila and Charles dating first surfaced in September 2018, but they were caught getting cozy with each other on more than one occasion. After E! News reported them stealing a kiss while at the movies, Camila decided to finally put an end to the rumors. She posted the cutest candid picture of the couple and captioned it ‘mine’. There is no need to speculate or read between the lines, these Riverdale stars are definitely dating.
Our tip: Going Instagram-official can be as easy as that. You don’t need to quote Shakespeare or have a perfectly edited photo shoot. Just pick out a picture of you being silly together on your camera roll and type a straightforward caption.
Hyun Ah and E’Dawn
Although their relationship was first denied by Cube Entertainment, the agency they were under, HyunA later gave an exclusive interview to a Korean news outlet, revealing that they have been dating for two years while working together as part of the group Triple H, and how they managed to keep it all a secret. Their agency didn’t take well to the news, announcing that they have been kicked out of the agency. The company then retracted its statement and said the couple was still under Cube Entertainment. A few months later, they left Cube Entertainment. They are both signed on to PSY’s new agency.
Our tip: They are the perfect example of ‘love conquers all’. And you definitely don’t need anyone’s approval before introducing your bae to your feed, except maybe your bae.
Justin and Hailey Bieber
Here’s a little bonus celebrity couple that kind of went Instagram-official. While Justin might have cheated a little by skipping a step, he went Instagram-official in a different way: He announced his engagement to Hailey on a rather lengthy caption that early last year. TMZ reported that he had popped the question while they were on vacation in the Bahamas in the most romantic way, in a restaurant, while everyone was salsa dancing. Soon after they got married in secret and Hailey changed her Instagram handle to Hailey Bieber and the rest is history. Now this is what we call a happily ever after.
Our tip: Don’t want to let people know you’re dating or engaged? Sure, just let them know they’re married. But only if you really want to.
