3 New Instagram-worthy Dessert Spots in Singapore

So you can get all the likes.

Posting up pics of multicoloured macarons and cotton candy milkshakes might seem like a sure way to get serious Instagram envy, but there’s more to the art of dessert pics than you might think. It’s not just about eye-catching ingredients and pretty plating, but also having a gorgeous backdrop to frame your sweet treats.

Speaking of which, here are three new dessert spots in Singapore that don’t just serve the most Instagram-worthy desserts, but boast stunning interiors too.

Baristart Coffee

Tucked away in an alley in downtown Sapporo, Baristart Coffee rose to fame for its cups of velvety latte made of high grade coffee beans and premium Hokkaido milk, beautiful latte art, and charming interior that made it one of the city’s most Instagrammable spots. Early this year, the cafe set up shop in Singapore, faithfully recreating the magic of the original.

A stone’s throw away from Tanjong Pagar MRT, Baristart Coffee has a minimalist interior decked with light-grained wood furniture, concrete accents, plenty of plants and a skylight that floods the cafe in lovely natural light. Besides the signature cuppas, which go from $3.50 to $7.50, must-tries include the Shaved Ice (Shiro Kuma), a bear-shaped shaved ice treat that’s begging to be ‘grammed; and the Chestnut & Mont Blanc, a parfait created with tea pudding, vanilla ice cream and a generous serving of chestnut and mont blanc cream.

Baristart is at 65 Tras Street.

MO Bar

Opening its doors late last year, MO Bar offers a stunning view of the Marina Bay and CBD skyline. The interior is just as impressive—think dark wood accents and plush velvet sofas surrounded by an array of tasteful modernist sculptures. And then there’s the floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the cosy space in natural daylight so your IG snaps are well-lit and sharp.

Head down to MO Bar from 3 to 5pm daily (as well as 12.30 to 2.30pm on weekends) for their Afternoon Tea, where you’ll get to savour a multicourse spread of sweet and savoury treats. While the seasonal menu changes every two months, it invariably ends with a dessert course in the form of a two-tiered tray of photogenic bite-sized treats. Top up $10 for a pot of premium tea from across the globe. There are 19 to choose from, including Pink Flamingo Tea from Florida, a refreshing blend of green tea and crimson hibiscus.

MO Bar is at Level 4 Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Lady M Orchard Central

There are currently five Lady M outlets across Singapore, but the flagship one at Orchard Central is by far the most impressive. While it’s not exactly new, the sprawling two-storey space just had a revamp in February, and now features a stunning trellis structure with an ever-changing art installation that’s updated four times a year to reflect the seasons. Couple that with the minimalist, sunbathed interior (notice a trend here?), it’s the perfect setting for your dessert snaps.

Renowned for sparking the mille crêpes trend that took the dessert scene by storm, Lady M serves a wide selection of freshly-made mille crêpes that are handcrafted using a combination of French and Japanese pastry techniques. Highlights include the Green Tea Mille Crepe, a scrumptious cake made up of 20 paper-thin crepes alternated with cream and fine green tea powder.

Lady M is at #01-27 / #02-07 Orchard Central.
