Google just announced two new phones and they’re bursting with cool features. Hitting the shelves in Singapore on November 1, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are identical in all but two ways—the XL has the larger 6.3″ screen, and also a notch at the top that houses TWO lenses (you’ll find out why in a second).
They come in three colours—Just Black, Clearly White and Not Pink—and can do way more things than the previous version released last year.
Here are the niftiest features:
Group Selfie Cam
Remember those two front lenses? One of them is a standard lens, while the other is a super wide one that gives you almost twice as much room in your photos to comfortably shoot a huge group selfie. Selfie sticks, be gone!
You know what sucks? Snapping a pic a millisecond too early or too late, when everyone’s eyes are closed. With Pixel 3, this won’t ever happen.
When you tap the shutter button, it takes a series of pictures before and after and then recommends the best one, where everyone is smiling, with eyes open and facing the camera. How cool is that?
Wish you had a doggo to up the cute factor of your selfies? No need—with the Pixel 3, you can add as many 3D pets into your pics as you want.
Known as Playground, this feature uses augmented reality to make your pics and videos come alive with cute characters known as Playmojis, which react to each other and to you.
This one’s too cool: point your camera at anything from a book to an animal to a piece of clothing, and Google Lens gives you information about it.
It can even translate text in real-time and grab details from a business card and add it to your contacts. The future is here.
Flip to Shhh
Flipping your Pixel 3 face down will automatically turn on Do Not Disturb mode to minimise distractions. Especially great for meetings.
The Pixel 3 starts at $1249 and Pixel 3 XL at $1399, available at Singtel and Starhub from November 1.
