Speak to any air steward or stewardess and they can probably tell you a lot of horror stories involving passengers and their bizarre requests. Of course, we’re not talking about those who open emergency doors when the flight is taking of (true story). We spoke to former SQ girls to find out what kind of passengers they disliked dealing with.
Passengers who get upset over little things
“When they don’t manage to get a copy of The Straits Times, and they say passive aggressive things like, ‘I’ve always flown with SQ and this is the first time I couldn’t get a newspaper.’”

Those who kick up a fuss when they don’t get their choice of meal
One SQ girl told us that a passenger once asked her, “Are you going to force me to eat the fish?” when she informed the passenger that the only meal choice left at that time was fish.

Those who can’t make up their mind what they want
“When passengers travel together and one of them requests for something (and the other doesn’t), when I serve the first passenger, the plus one decides he/she wants one too and I have to make an extra trip.”

Those who ask for cup noodles before food is served
They’re not stingy when it comes to cup noodles, but one SQ girl tells us that serving one customer cup noodles usually sets off a chain reaction where everyone around that passenger also starts requesting for the same thing. And this all happens when they’re busy preparing the food trolley.

Those who leave their children to their own devices
One SQ girl said, “[I dislike] passengers who don’t control their children, especially when they run around during meal service or when there is turbulence.”

“People who are rude and set really bad examples for their children. No ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.”
