If there’s one thing I am really good, née great at, it’s shopping. When you spend at least two hours per day scouring the internet for the best buys, it’s hard not to. And let’s not forget the countless minutes spent scrolling through Instagram when I’m on my way home. If shopping was considered an Olympic sport, I would have brought the gold medal home a long time ago. In fact, having an occupation like Fashion Editor sometimes feels like the professional equivalent of that.
I was 14 when I discovered being a Fashion Editor was a real job. I used to read magazines like Seventeen, Dolly and Teen Vogue religiously, pouring over the fashion editorials and the shopping pages. I made my (sometimes questionable) styling choices from analysing those fashion editorials and tailored my shopping purchases to what the editors recommended in their trend pages. And thanks to these people, it taught me to hone in my eye for design and to arm myself with the necessary information I needed when I went shopping.
Now that I’m on the other side, it’s only right I pass on the knowledge that I used to lean so heavily on. So if you’re looking for a Fashion Editor’s shopping experience but on a real girl budget, here are some of my shopping hacks that will help you streamline the shopping process and maximise the most of what you have.
