We’ve got something to admit, though you might already know: You know those photos of slim models and celebrities you see in magazines? Photoshop aside, one of the reasons why they look so good is because they’re wearing shapewear to help them look svelte and slim! Kim Kardashian once told Us Weekly that she wears not one, but two shapewear pieces for that va-va-voom figure. The mogul has since gone on to create her own controversial line of shapewear called SKIMS.

1. For sheer dresses
The light shaping bodysuit is your best friend when it comes to sheer partywear. It discreetly pulls your waist and hips in, and the ’50s inspired shapes play up the whole underwear as outerwear vibes so that you can wear your fave translucent dresses with your shapewear as part of your outfit.
2. For cleavage-bearing outfits
Low-cut tops can be tricky to wear when you’ve got a shaping top underneath. To help, choose a shaping top that features a dipped cut in the cleavage, so you’re not flashing your shapewear. This one from Fashion Forms is self-adhesive, eliminating the need for straps, which will come in handy for all those strapless dresses you love to wear.
3. For high-waisted shorts and miniskirts
A classic brief-cut contours the waistline and provides you with slimmer hips, so you can wear your favourite shorts out for a carefree weekend.
4. For longer length fitted bottoms
This shapewear helps to keep your tummy pulled in, so no matter how much you’ve had for dinner, you won’t have a paunch to show for.
5. For slinky barely-there dresses
These silky dresses feel like a second skin so how do you even wear underwear with them? To prevent nip slips try a pair of adhesive stick ons. That way you’ll be able to move about with ease.
6. For the visible panty line (VPL)
The VPL is a universal fashion faux-pas, and you don’t want to be caught with one. So go with a pair of shapewear that remain invisible even in the tightest skirt to get the curves without the demerit points! This one is even purposefully asymmetrical in the event you chose to wear a skirt with a thigh bearing slit.
