This Watch Design Is Inspired By Chicken Rice And Durians

With National Day less than a month away, instead of shopping for a new red and white outfit to celebrate, how about showing off that patriotic spirit by taking a look at one of Swatch‘s newest destination watches instead? The brand has released many destinations watches over the years, with Singapore now finally immortalized via one of the Swiss watch maker’s watches. That’s right, we now have a watch that’s dedicated to the little red dot.

Aptly titled Singapore Tale, the watch was designed by local artist and illustrator Tan Zi Xi (or @Messymsxi) and pays tribute to some of the island’s most iconic landmarks, symbols and food. Think tourist attractions like the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by The Bay as well as food items like chicken rice and durians. Every icon on the watch is also designed to look like an emblem and shares a resemblance to the vintage Peranakan tiles that adorned the local shophouses in the 1970s.

For those who are interested, the Singapore Tale watch is retailing for $125 and is now available for sale online and at all Swatch outlets.
