8 Things To Know About The Upcoming iPhone iOS 14 Update
Customised Home Page With Widgets
You’ll be able to set custom widgets for your interests. Whether it’s music, your activity or your photos, these widgets can now be moved all around your homescreen and pinned, allowing you to easily view new information about your chosen widgets.
Picture-in-Picture For Easy Multi-Tasking
A call currently takes up your entire phone screen, blocking the previous page you were viewing. But with the new iOS 14 update, incoming calls will now only take up a small part from the top of your screen, allowing you to multitask and have no visual disruption while taking in calls.
This function will also apply to when you’re asking for Siri or Facetiming someone – it won’t take up the whole screen, and you’ll be able to view a separate page while interacting with a caller or talking to Siri.
Search For Your App With App Library
You’ll also be able to search for your apps, so no more endless scrolling to find a specific app. Simply get to the end of the Home Screen pages and view the organised sections that Apple has intelligently grouped together, or just search to find the app you need. Simple, quick and easy to use.
Find Chats Easily With Messages
You’ll be able to pin contacts to the top of your Messages app to easily send them a text. What’s more, group chats in Messages have gotten an update as well, and you can now customise the chat by setting a group photo. On top of that, you’ll also be able to directly reply to a message in a group chat – allowing for the ease of communication and keeping track.
Plus, Memoji will also include more options of diverse hairstyles, headwear, and more, so you’ll be able to express yourself through text easily.
Connecting and finding new information just got easier with iOS 14’s App Clip function. With Apple’s all new App Clip code, businesses and products can now have scannable codes that’ll direct users to a task or new information.
For instance, you could scan an App Clip code, and it’ll easily direct you to paying for a certain item. The information / task will then pop up from the bottom of your screen, making it easy to perform tasks, with just a simple scan. You will also be able to scan NFC tags or QR codes, and App Clips to activate them.
Maps To Guide You
Don’t worry about getting lost, because with the updated iOS 14, there will be Guides. These guides will tell you exact directions, routing, elevation, and even the current traffic of the street. It’ll even customise your trail according to your vehicle, so whether you’re in a car or on a bicycle, Maps will now provide you with a customized journey that’ll take into account factors that you wouldn’t have even thought of.
And if you’re looking to do something new, Guides can help you with that, as it will curate interesting things to do in your area, as well as provide you with food recommendations and more!
More Privacy And Control
Do you really know how much of your info is private? Well, you’ll soon be able to better secure your privacy because the update will require all apps to obtain user permission before tracking your location.
Apps will also be more transparent about the app’s use of the microphone and camera, allowing you to customise your privacy controls even more.
Other Added Updates
Apple will also be introducing new apps and updates for iOS 14, including a Home App as well as updates to existing apps such as the Health App. Find out more about these other updates here.
