I’ve been to quite a few fan meetings in my career, but I must say Kang Daniel’s fan meeting is one of the most impressive ones I’ve been to. And there are two reasons for this:
- Not a lot of artists hold their fan meetings at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. In fact, he’s the first solo act to do so.
- His show was almost as extravagant as a concert, complete with sparklers, confetti bursts and stunning LED display with equally stunning video effects.
The fan meeting, named Color On Me after his debut mini-album of the same title, is his first one as a solo artist, and Singapore was chosen as his first stop.
In a video played during the fan meeting, the 22-year-old expressed his excitement to meet foreign fans and try out local food. And that’s just what he did—even during the fan meeting.
During one segment, Daniel was given a chance to try local delicacies and had to express his feelings about the food through a dance. Fans then had to guess what he ate based on two options. But here’s the twist: if fans got it wrong, Daniel has to be “punished”. Daniel could give hints—and he blatantly nodded and shook his head to give fans the right answer.
At first, fans didn’t quite get the game and voted for the right answer. Upon finding out that Daniel would only do the “punishment” (which included dancing) if they got it wrong, they started giving wrong answers just to see him dance. Daniel had to pick his punishment from five options written on pieces of paper and out of those, he had to dance to “Rolex dance” and “Level Up dance”.
