Whenever we think of dim sum, we tend to assume that we can find the best dim sum in Hong Kong because it is a Cantonese food. However, what if the most delicious dim sum can actually be found in a city located northwest of Hong Kong? That’s right, I am talking about the city which is believed to be the birthplace of dim sum and is formerly known as Canton, Guangzhou.
To make things better, if you’re in Hong Kong, as my group was, travelling to Guangzhou is now much easier and faster. With the September 2019 opening of the high speed rail in West Kowloon, Hong Kong, the journey has been cut down from close to two hours to just 47 minutes. When you reach Guangzhou South station, you can easily hop onto the city’s metro to go into the city centre and start feasting on their culinary delights. You’ll likely never look at a Hong Kong restaurant in the same way, much less a Singaporean one after having dim sum at these places.
