CLEO Eligible Bachelor Exclusive: A Girl’s Guide To Muay Thai

Here’s the thing about Muay Thai and all other related sports: most girls are skeptical about pursuing it as a hobby.

These intensive sports are often seen as activities for men, but the truth is, there’s no reason why women should shy away from it.

One question that I get asked a lot is, “Won’t all that kicking and punching hurt and make girls too masculine?” Another popular one: “Will I get a six-pack if I practised Muay Thai? I don’t want a six-pack.”

While those fears and apprehension are understandable, they’re also common misconceptions that many people have about this sport. Muay Thai training is designed to make you stronger and develop your core. But, it doesn’t make you big and bulky. Rather, it makes you lean and toned instead.

So there’s no need to be afraid – practising Muay Thai doesn’t make you less of a girl. In fact, it’s a great self-defense technique to learn.

But, more importantly, the sport is not about weight loss or becoming ripped. Rather, I would say it’s as good as a lifestyle – it’s about becoming healthier and happier with yourself, with your body. Take this from someone who has six years of experience as a professional Muay Thai fighter.
