CLEO Eligible Bachelor Exclusive: Life As A “Grey’s Anatomy” Addict

My greatest addiction in life has nothing to do with a snort or syringe. Rather, it is a madly relatable soap opera, Grey’s Anatomy. After 12 seasons, I’m still McLovin’ it! Whenever I rewatch the show, I’ll get a hangover from all that binge-watching. Yet, I would press on until I’ve rewatched latest episode.

To me, the show’s biggest appeal is how the series focuses on life’s unpredictability. It’s inspiring to see the characters strive so hard in the name of passion, yet a disease or death can turn their worlds upside down. Other than the dramatic plots, I find myself drawn to the patients’ life stories.

Every episode serves as a reminder that life is fragile and short, which is why we should cherish what’s important to us every single day. Don’t tie yourselves down with unnecessary worries – that is what I took away from the show.

And this is why, I find myself turning to the quotes from the show to motivate myself. For example, Izzie Stevens said, “You never know the biggest day of your life is the biggest day. Not until it’s happening. You don’t recognise the biggest day of your life. Not until you’re right in the middle of it. The day you commit to something or someone. The day you get your heart broken. The day you meet your soul mate. The day you realize there’s not enough time, because you want to live forever. Those are the biggest days. The perfect days.”

Before you get turned away by the thought that this show is filled with nothing but tragedies and death, I’ll have you know that Grey’s Anatomy is more than that. There are numerous moments that have made me laughed out loud, and there are happy endings when characters get cured and end up happy and blissful.

And it also taught me one of the greatest lessons in friendship, courtesy of Cristina Yang: “We have been friends for a long time. Want to know how? By not watching each other poop!”
