How do you feel about your win?
I’m very happy about it, but also a bit shocked at the same time. I really didn’t expect to win, because I thought the other guys were really eligible as well. I even told my friends that the competition looked really tough because when I went for the first photo shoot, a lot of the guys came in looking like cover models already, even before stepping into hair and makeup!
How was the whole bachelor experience for you?
It’s a big eye-opener, for sure. I got to meet a lot of new people, and it really boosted my confidence a lot. Before all these, I didn’t know I could go up on stage to talk, much less dance! I mean just two years ago I was still overweight, so to be here now as CLEO’s Most Eligible Bachelor, it really feels like a dream. I mean, my confidence was so bad before, so I’m never one to be the center of attention. Now you can throw me in a room and I’ll be comfortable talking to anyone.
Why do you think you had such low confidence before?
I think it’s from being overweight. I often felt like I wasn’t good enough, and suffered from low self-esteem. The extra weight really affected me, psychologically. Sometimes I’d even wonder if people would want to talk to me.

Oh no, we’re sure people would be lining up to talk to you now! Can you describe your dream date?
Well, I don’t like the typical movie and dinner thing. I’d much prefer doing something more active, like going for dance classes, art classes, cooking workshops and star-gazing.
Star gazing? Are you big on astronomy?
I just like being outdoors. I’m a nature lover. Besides, I think it’s important to go immerse yourself in nature every once in a while. There’s a saying that I heard somewhere, which is that if you’re always confined within four walls, you’d never think out of the box.
What are the qualities that CLEO’s Most Eligible Bachelor 2016 looks for in a partner?
Honesty. I think that’s the base of any relationship. She shouldn’t try to be someone else, not even on the first date. Other than that, she should love eating as much as I do, and I’m a big eater! I also love doing sports, so it’ll be great if she shares that passion with me as well.
