After releasing a clip Infinite’s Woohyun drenched in water and whispering that he’ll wait 8,760 hours or, to put simply, a whole year, Woollim Entertainment finally revealed the tracklist for his solo debut mini-album. The record, titled Write, is a repertoire of six songs. And just like the album’s namesake, the vocalist was reportedly very involved in writing the tracks.
Here’s why we’re itching to get our hands on the album ASAP.
He’s reveling in his composer status
Woohyun’s no stranger to composing. In fact, our Namstar was the brains behind the scores for Infinite’s documentary movie OST, Together, which he composed during their world tour! This time round, Woohyun took part in writing and composing three out of the six tracks on his solo offering. And if you think he’s one of those artist who writes a few lines and are credited as a co-writer, you can’t be more wrong. The 25-year-old wrote “Scent” all by himself! OK, fine, it was arranged by someone else, but he was the lyricist and composer. So, we’re guessing it’s safe to presume that we’ll be hearing a lot more from Composer Nam. Watch out Jung Yonghwa, Woohyun may just give you a run for your money.
His dedication to his fans
During an interview with MelOn as the composer for Together, Woohyun said, “I feel that it is because of the fans that I started composing. I wanted to communicate by making the fans and my story into music to cherish forever, music to listen to forever, and lyrics to read forever.” We can all feel the love and can’t wait to hear his story behind every song!
He has the whole world awaiting his solo debut (at least the K-pop world is)
The K-pop world has seen a trend of idol group members breaking out on their own temporarily and releasing solo records. With SHINee’s Jonghyun working on his solo comeback and Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany having just released the teasers for her solo debut this week, competition looks stiff. The good news for Woohyun and Inspirits (Infinite’s fans) is, he topped a poll for the most anticipated solo promotion on Mwave! He even knocked ex-Girls’ Generation member, Jessica, off the pedestal by a far stretch! Seems like Vitamin Nam has charmed everyone with his energy!
Not enough woo-ing with Toheart
The two self-declared alter egos of each other, Woohyun and SHINee’s Key decided to swoon fans by allowing us to hear them sing longer verses as compared to their rather short parts in their own respective groups’ songs. But let’s be real, it was not enough to quench our thirst for Woohyun’s angelic vocals. And now, we’ve finally been granted with an album-full of Woohyun, and Woohyun only.
The MV, the MV!
With the suspense-filled teaser and bearing in mind acting chops that he demonstrated in High School – Love On, we are super excited to see Woohyun, hopefully, acting in his solo MV. It wouldn’t hurt if the rest of the group makes a cameo too, as long as they don’t steal the spotlight from Namstar!
Rumour has it that Infinite, Infinite H and Infinite F might be making a comeback this year too! Seems like Infinite is planning to dominate 2016, left, right, centre!
Woohyun’s album, Write, is set to be released on May 9.
