Days after Big Bang’s T.O.P was arrested for smoking marijuana before his enlistment, it’s been announced that the K-pop idol, who is serving his national service in a police department, has been expelled from his unit.
The 29-year-old started his mandatory military duties three months ago with Gangnam Police Station. However, last week, it was reported that he had failed a hair follicle test which tested for drugs. According to news reports, he had smoked marijuana in October last year.
Following the news, both his agency YG Entertainment and the Big Bang member issued an apology. The latter posted a handwritten note to apologise for his actions.

According to Korean news outlet Star Today, the prosecutors reported that he had used the drug on four occasions last year – twice in marijuana form, and twice in liquid or e-cigarettes form. The same report stated that the police department discharged T.O.P from his military duties after he was detained.
After his case is over and he is found guilty, he would have to restart his enlistment from scratch. However, according to the law, he would not be able to enter the police force again.
Update: An earlier version of the headline said T.O.P was expelled from national service.
