The Superbowl happened yesterday, an amidst is, there was an arrest. Rapper 21 Savage was taken into federal custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after it was discovered that he was reportedly born in London and has been living in America illegally after his visa expired when he was younger. The rapper claimed to be born in Atlanta.

After his arrest, memes of the rapper being English surfaced on Twitter. Demi Lovato found one of the memes funny and tweeted, “So far 21 Savage memes have been my favourite part of Super Bowl.”

And a lot of people got triggered. Many claimed she was getting a kick out of someone else’s misfortune.

After the backlash, she deactivated her Twitter.

She took it to Instagram story to explain her side of her story.

She also tried to reach out to Wale, asking him to answer her direct message.

Basically, Twitter bullied her into deactivating by making mean remarks about her overdose incident. The singer was hospitalised after she OD-ed in July last year, and netizens were making personal attacks at her.

Bebe Rexha defended Demi, tweeting:

Our two cents’ worth: Demi shouldn’t have tweeted about the meme, and it was low of netizens to come at her with OD remarks. More importantly, why would anyone even make memes about someone’s misfortune anyway?
