Overzealous might be an understatement when it comes to describing a group of fans that chased a Korean celebrity through the streets of Shanghai.
EXO member Chanyeol had arrived in the Chinese city to film a movie, only to find 20 cars hot on his heels upon arrival.
The star expressed his concern and disappointment on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, after the drivers of the cars drove recklessly and even cut into his lane a few times to stop the car he was in.
He wrote: “… After I arrived in Shanghai, left the airport and was on the city road, there were about 20 cars following me. These cars disrupted the main road, even at the highway, frequently changing lanes and at times tried to block our car. These encounters may lead to accidents.”
He continued in another post, “The road that we have to pass has many cars that stopped too. These cars also blocked traffic flow. I really, really like China. To be able to come to Shanghai to film and see you guys makes me excited. But doing such things on the road is not right. In future, I hope everyone can support us under circumstances that are not disruptive to others and dangerous for you.”
This is not the first time EXO has encountered overzealous fans. The boy band has reportedly fallen victim to fans breaking into their dormitory, claiming to have stolen their used underwear (after breaking into the dorm) and gifting them with a teddy bear with a camera hidden in its eye.
