Big Bang fans, get ready to bid goodbye to another oppa for about two years. The K-pop group’s agency, YG Entertainment, just confirmed that G-Dragon will be enlisting for his mandatory military service this month.
In fact, his enlistment date has been set to be on February 27 (Tuesday).
According to the statement by the agency, he will be enlisting as an active duty soldier. This means, he will be doing pretty much the same thing as a normal soldier, depending on where he will be drafted into.
Celebrities who have sustained injuries and are not exempted usually join the public service sector, which entails working in government offices instead of doing the usual drills.
The agency wrote that the Big Bang leader is planning to enlist quiet, without an official farewell event – which means he won’t be meeting fans and the media on that day. His decision stems from safety issues – he wanted to avoid any chaos that might occur.
His fellow member Taeyang is also expected to enlist this year. The newly wed will be skipping out on his honeymoon because of this reason.
