Mediacorp actor Ian Fang found himself in the centre of Internet talk today when his explicit texts with Carrie Wong were leaked.

The 29-year-old actor and the 25-year-old actress had been exchanging messages via Instagram’s direct messaging feature.

Lianhe Zaobao released the screenshots of the text messages, which included lines such as “I’ll plant more strawberries”, which is Taiwanese slang for giving hickey.

According to reports, the exchange happened in February, which would mean the screenshots were taken around that time because the “Monday” time stamp would have changed to indicate actual dates if the messages were dated more than a week.

8Days released a translation of the whole exchange.

Apart from the mention of hickies, the text messages are quite tame. However, Ivy Low, the head of Mediacorp’s The Celebrity Agency, said, “The conversation, as we understand it, was a private exchange conducted in jest. However, it was distasteful and inappropriate. The parties involved are deeply embarrassed and have no doubt, taken away many lessons from this unfortunate incident. We expect our artistes, being public figures, to conduct themselves professionally and appropriately at all times.”

Both Ian and Carrie acknowledged the authenticity of the messages. Ian apologised and said, “I admit that the language we used was vulgar and inappropriate and I apologise for that. I also feel bad for those who have read the messages.”

Carrie said, “The indecent language we used in our private conversation has caused a lot of unnecessary worry and hurt to everyone, and I’m deeply regretful for causing that. I’ve been reflecting a lot on my actions after the incident and I take responsibility for my inappropriate language. I am also grateful to my boyfriend for his trust and I want to offer my deepest apologies to everyone.”

Carrie went Instagram-official with her boyfriend, Boris Lin, earlier this year. She uploaded a photo of them together on Valentine’s Day but took it down a day later. Ian Fang has been rumoured to be dating actress Rebecca Lim.
