In September, there were rumours that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber and model Hailey Baldwin got married in a courthouse in New York City. They didn’t confirm the news but a fan told Us Weekly that the couple verbally confirmed their marriage when she bumped into them mid-October.
Now, we don’t have to wonder anymore because the couple has made their marriage official in the most millennial way ever—through social media.
Hailey, who trademarked the name “Hailey Bieber” last month, reportedly for a clothing line, just changed her Instagram handle to @haileybieber today. Her profile name has also been changed to Hailey Rhode Bieber. Of course, this wasn’t the first time she wore the name out. Earlier this week, she was spotted wearing a jacket with “Bieber” emblazoned on the back, and from the looks of it, she might have been giving us a hint of the name change.
Yesterday, Justin uploaded a photo of the couple, captioning it “My wife is awesome”, which we take to be a confirmation of their marriage.
The couple got engaged in July this year.
Rumours about them dating surfaced in 2014 and in 2016, Justin uploaded a photo of them kissing on New Year’s Eve.
In a previous interview with GQ, he spoke about their relationship, saying, “What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged … I just don’t want to hurt her.”
The engagement might have been a short one, but if they really had been dating since 2014, he did wait a few years before he put a ring on it. And now, all we have to do is hope that they’ll release their wedding photos.
