If you did a double-take when Jaden Smith endorsed Louis Vuitton’s womenswear collection, you’d probably stop everything you’re doing (except reading this article) when you see this series of photos of NU’EST’s Ren modelling skirts and dresses for a Chinese brand.
The member of the male K-pop group posted the campaign photos on his Instagram account yesterday with the caption, “Am I a boy or a girl? I am a man. Fashion makes a person and its impression.” In the advertisements for China-based online store VIP Shop, the lanky Busan-born singer showed off his enviable leggy assets in a dress and above-the-knee skirts.
I’m so happy for the product cooperation. Specially wore skirts as a meaning of antecipating the summer arrival! Also the US will meet the summer alongside the only 512 beautiful skirt section~ Hope that the skirt section is shown up as soon as possible to the girls…! The 20-year-old singer has always been known for his feminine features since NU’EST debuted in 2012. He caught eyeballs with his bleached blond long strands in the group’s teaser photos, but even after snipping off his long hair, Ren sometimes sports hair extensions, especially during photo shoots, such as the one for VIP Shop.
This wasn’t the first time the idol had worn women’s clothing. Two years ago, he had cross-dressed as one of the Girl’s Day members for a special collaborative performance and earned praises for his beautiful looks.
This time round, when photos of his modelling stint were circulated on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, Weibo, he became the most-searched topic on the portal.
And before you think a man wearing skirts is something new in fashion, let us remind you that even Kanye West has done it.
