It’s only been two days since the official announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement, but everyone has been trying to squeeze out more info about the couple and the wedding.

And Kensington Palace has kindly satisfied us by providing a date for the royal wedding: May 2018.

The palace announced on social media yesterday that the couple would be tying the knot next year in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The note included a line that says “Her Majesty The Queen has given permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel.”

When Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship started becoming serious, many wondered if Meghan, who is divorced, would be able to marry in a church. After all, members of the royal family who married divorcees were previously not allowed to hold their solemnisation in a church.

Meghan has also announced that she would retire from acting after her engagement to the prince. She clarified that she wasn’t giving up anything – she’s just starting a “new chapter” in her life.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle meeting the media to announce their engagement.

She will use her new position to focus on her royal duties and supporting philanthropic causes, as she has already been actively doing. She said in an interview, “I think what’s been really exciting as we talk about the transition out of my career and into my role is… the causes that are really important to me that I can focus even more energy on. Very early out of the gate, I think you realize you have access or a voice that people are willing to listen (to) and with that comes a lot of responsibility, which I take seriously.”
