SHINee’s Jonghyun was laid to rest this morning after a private funeral. While people are still mourning for the loss of a talented artist, some started to make sense of Jonghyun’s last song.
He reportedly performed the song, “Phantom Pain (Only One You Need)”, during his last concerts on December 9 and 10.
He told fans who attended the concert, “I made this song because I want to tell people to not be in pain when their loved ones are gone.”
According to Mayo Clinic, phantom pain refers to “pain that feels like it’s coming from a body part that’s no longer there.”
The song was reportedly slated to be released in January 2019.
Jonghyun was passed away three days ago after being found unconscious in a rented apartment with a burning coal briquette. Police ruled his death a suicide.
His close friends and colleagues visited the memorial, which was held in Asan Medical Centre in Seoul from December 19. A memorial in a different hall was set up for fans to pay their last respects to the singer.
The private funeral this morning was held this morning.
SHINee’s Minho led the funeral procession, together with Jonghyun’s sister, while members Onew, Taemin and Key were the pallbearer, together with Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Donghae and Eunhyuk.
It was also attended by his colleagues from SM Entertainment, such as Red Velvet and Girls’ Generation.
